Animal injury claims

Thousands of people are injured every year by vicious and dangerous animals. If you have been bitten, kicked or sustained any other form of injury from an animal that wasn’t your fault, you could be entitled to animal injury compensation.

Whether it’s a horse or a dog, animals are the responsibility of their owners. If that animal injures another person without provocation, then the owner is liable for that injury. Furthermore, if animal owners do not take their responsibility seriously, they could be ordered to pay animal attack compensation to the victim. Many responsible animal owners will have an insurance policy in place, although this is not a legal requirement. You may also be able to claim under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme.

If you have been attacked by an animal it is essential you notify the police to ensure the animal is not able to attack another person. The police may order a dangerous animal to be destroyed.
